Vision problems and blindness due to multiple eye complications are on the rise amongst the Indian population – mainly due to cataract, diabetes retinopathy, glaucoma and other issues. It is a serious concern for a country that already has the largest population of blind people in the world, of over 8 million. The reason behind such a large population suffering from vision problems is the lack of even basic health care facilities to people who live in the poorest parts of the countryand cannot afford healthcare cost because of poverty. If access to timely treatments would have been possible, a large percentage could have been prevented from going blind.

Knowing this fully well, Shree Ramkrishna Netralaya (SRN) has been treating the population for various eye related problems since 2003 not only in Mumbai but also holding regular eye camps in the interior parts of the country in association with NGOs. During the period of two decades since SRN was established in 2003, the institution’s constant endeavor has been to provide international eye care services across its four facilities located in Mumbai, at Thane, Mulund, Vashi and Seawood. SRN has full NABH accredition. SRN works closely with CGHS and Ex Servicemen health scheme.

The SRN mission has been the dream of Dr. Nitin Deshpande, a highly qualified eye specialist and chairman, who along with his team of qualified doctors has performed over 50,000 surgeries in the past 20 years and earned the trust of over one lakh patients. Cumulatively the team has over 150 years of experience in providing critical eye care treatment. Says the Chairman, “Today the second generation of young doctors are working in close tandem with each other and are providing world class services and surgeries at affordable prices. SRN has a holistic approach to eye care. For vision problems has an economical cost too. Timely treatment of vision problems helps prevent blindness and increases access to education for children, besides it helps access to employment and prosperity, and enables greater participation in civil, social and political life among the adult population. A report by NGO Orbisreleased on the World Sight Day, has found that between 2019-20, the loss to gross national income due to blindness in adults would be Rs 9.06 lac crore and Rs. 3.31 crore for children – for 10 and 40lost working years respectively. This includes the loss of economically productive years for both the visually impaired and their care-givers.

The Ophthalmologists in the hospital are specialists in the fields of cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, lasik surgery, lasik vision correction and more. नयी दिल्ली, 26 मार्च ग्लोबल कायस्थ कॉन्फ्रेंस (जीकेसी) ने महान कवियित्री, सुविख्यात लेखिका, पद्म विभूषण और पद्म भूषण सम्मान से अंलकृत महादेवी वर्मा की जयंती 26 मार्च के अवसर पर महादेवी वर्मा स्मृति सम्मान समारोह – 2022 का आयोजन किया, जिसमें अलग-अलग क्षेत्र में उल्लेखनीय योगदान देने वाली 27 विभूतियों को  महादेवी वर्मा स्मृति सम्मान से सम्मानित किया गया।

जीकेसी की प्रबंध न्यासी श्रीमती रागिनी रंजन की अध्यक्षता में स्व. महादेवी वर्मा की जयंती के अवसर पर सत्याग्रह मंडप, गांधी स्मृति एवं दर्शन समिति, राजघाट, नई दिल्‍ली परिसर में महादेवी वर्मा स्मृति सम्मान समारोह – 2022 का आयोजन किया गया। कार्यक्रम की शुरूआत दीप प्रज्जवलन, भगवान गणपति और भगवान चित्रगुप्त चित्र पर पुष्प अर्पित कर की गयी। इसके बाद इसके बाद राष्ट्रपिता महात्मा गांधी और महादेवी वर्मा के चित्र पर पुष्प अर्पित किया गया। श्रीमती जया श्रीवास्तव ने भजन वैष्णव जन तो तैनी कहिये गीत पेश किया। इस अवसर पर बतौर मुख्य अतिथि संदीप मारवाह, सुमन कुमार, ज्ञानेन्द्र रावत, प्रिया मल्लिक और माया कुलश्रेष्ठ निगम मौजूद थी, जिन्हें मोमेंटो, पुष्पगुच्छ और अंगवस्त्र देकर सम्मानित किया गया। जीकेसी दिल्ली के प्रदेश अध्यक्ष सुनील कुमार ने स्वागत भाषण दिया। कार्यक्रम का मंच संचालन प्रतिष्ठा  श्रीवास्तव ने किया।

इस अवसर पर जीकेसी के ग्लोबल अध्‍यक्ष राजीव रंजन प्रसाद ने बताया कि जीकेसी कायस्‍थ समाज के शैक्षणिक, आर्थिक, सांस्‍कृतिक विकास के साथ-साथ उनके उत्‍थान के लिए प्रयासरत है। इसी के तहत प्रख्यात लेखिका एवं उपन्यासकार स्व. महादेवी वर्मा की जयन्ती के अवसर पर महादेवी वर्मा स्मृति सम्मान-2022 ,समाज के लिए अपने अमूल्‍य योगदान देने वाली 27 विभूतियों को दिया गया है। उन्होने बताया कि महादेवी वर्मा छायावादी युग की प्रमुख कवयित्री मानी जाती हैं। आधुनिक हिंदी साहित्य में महादेवी वर्मा मीराबाई के नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुईं। आधुनिक गीत काव्य में महादेवी वर्मा जी का स्थान सर्वोपरि रहा तथा उन्होंने एक गद्य लेखिका के रूप में भी अपनी ख्याति प्राप्त की।आधुनिक हिन्दी की सबसे सशक्त कवयित्रियों में से एक होने के कारण उन्हें आधुनिक मीरा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।महादेवी वर्मा जी एक मशूहर कवियित्री तो थी, इसके साथ ही वे एक महान समाज सुधारक भी थीं।

My name is Anju Kumari Behera, and I am a 24-year-old. Due to my distinctive philosophy, I am appreciated for thinking above the boundaries of society and family. I am a young and energetic lady from odisha. I have completed my Master’s in Chemistry from Centurion University, Balangir. Presently, I am pursuing a B.ed from Andhra University. Besides, I have been associated with the beauty world for the last few years.

Netra Patil  – I am 14 years old, Netra Patil, born in the city of weavers, Malegaon. Presently I am reside in Nasik.  In standard 8^th, I secured 92% in Nashik Cambridge School. Passion for our work is essential for success in any endeavour. My passion for achieving motivates me to push myself every day and gain new abilities that will help me do better work. I am a self-driven individual with a strong desire to succeed.. I enjoy a challenge and set goals for myself on a regular basis so that I have something to strive towards. I’m not content with mediocrity, and I’m continuously looking for methods to improve and attain excellence.

I must admit that I am a sports freak. I enjoy anything and everything related to sports. By nature, I’m a competitive person who strives to be the best version of myself. I’ve obtained a broad grasp of various sports and their strategies over the last few years. In the fields of sports like long jump, spirits, and others, I have earned ten medals and numerous certificates. This keeps me motivated and also fit.

In today’s environment, studies are essential, and I understand the value of academics. I enjoy studying and becoming engaged in a book. For several events and exams, I received numerous medals and certificates, for example, essay writing, math olympiad, etc.

I first participated in a fashion show in 2021, when I began my journey. I did so just because I enjoyed it, not because I had a goal in mind, and then I won 1st runner up at Stardom India kids fashion show 2021; from there, I gained confidence and hope in my inner mind that yes, I have the potential in me and I can do this. After this, as an encouragement booster, I also gained 2 nd second place in the Miss Teen Universe 2022 held at WE Hotels in Pune. I aspire to become a successful actress and a model.

The modelling field is a diversified one, and it will enable me to channel my preferred style while maintaining my individuality. The variety of styles available makes the job exciting and motivating, and it’s in this diversified, high-energy setting that my enthusiasm for modelling will blossom. I enjoy how, as an actress, I can take on different characteristics and portray them in my unique way. I believe this allows me to be more sympathetic and empathic toward the people I encounter in my daily life. It has given me more self-assurance and inventiveness in all I do. Every time I perform, I enjoy the surge of nerves and excitement I have before taking the stage. It simply motivates me to give my best effort.

कम उम्र से अभिनय के क्षेत्र आयी कात्यानी अपना काम पूरी लगन से करती रही। अपनी कामयाबी की मंजिल पाने के लिए वो आगे काम करती रही और कभी पीछे मुड़ कर नहीं देखा। अपने मंजिल तक पहुंचने के लिए कात्यायनी ने पूरे आत्मविश्वास और धैर्य के साथ एक एक कदम आगे बढ़ाया। बचपन से ही अभिनय के प्रति प्रगाढ़ रुचि ने उन्हें पंजाब से दिल्ली तक पहुँचाया। जहां इन्होंने टीचिंग और मॉडलिंग का काम किया। फिर अपने कैरियर में नया पड़ाव लाने के लिए मुम्बई में आकर अपना अभिनय सफर शुरू किया। मुंबई में इन्होंने कई शॉर्ट फिल्म, विज्ञापन, फिल्मों और धारावाहिको में काम किया। सावधान इंडिया और क्राइम पेट्रोल के कई भाग में इन्होंने काम किया है। ज़ी टीवी पर प्रसारित धारावाहिक ‘दो सहेलियां किस्मत की कठपुतलियां’ में मीरा का किरदार निभाया था। बालाजी के धारावाहिक ‘करम अपना अपना’ में मुख्य भूमिका निभाई है।

अभिनय में निखार के साथ कामों में अधिकता आयी और वह दक्षिण भारत की ओर निकल पड़ी। यहाँ किस्मत ने इनका भरपूर साथ दिया और उन्हें दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों में काम करने का मौका मिला। फ़िल्म ‘ट्रैप’ में ब्रम्हा के साथ इन्हें काम करने का मौका मिला। यह फ़िल्म और इनका स्वयं के द्वारा निभाया किरदार इन्हें बेहद पसंद है। कात्यायनी ने तमिल फिल्म ‘पार्वतीपुरम’ में मुख्य भूमिका निभाया। जिसे हिंदी में डब किया गया और इस फ़िल्म का नाम ‘शिवशक्ति’ रखा गया। अभिनेता श्रीहरि के साथ इन्होंने फ़िल्म ‘शिवकेशव’ मुख्य भूमिका में काम किया। कात्यायनी ने दो वेब सीरीज़ में भी अभिनय किया है।

इनकी आगामी फ़िल्म जल्द ही रिलीज़ होने वाली है। फ़िल्म और ओटीटी प्लेटफॉर्म में आगे भी वह काम कर रही है। कात्यायनी का कहना है कि लगन से अपना काम करते रहना चाहिए लेकिन जो आपका दिल नहीं माने ऐसे कामों के लिए समझौता ना करें। फ़िल्म अभिनेत्री रश्मिका मंदना का अभिनय इन्हें पसंद है। अभिनेता में नागार्जुन, अल्लुअर्जुन इनके पसंदीदा अभिनेता है और भविष्य में इनके साथ काम करना इनकी ख्वाहिश है। गोविंद नामदेव का भी ये बहुत सम्मान करती है।

अभिनय क्षेत्र में जब इनकी शुरुआत हुई तो गोविंद नामदेव के सानिध्य में अभिनय की बारीकियां सीखने का इन्हें मौका मिला। हिंदी फिल्म ‘कॉलेज कैम्पस’ और ‘लव क्रॉस’ में वह अपने अभिनय का जादू बिखेर चुकी है। अभिनय के क्षेत्र में कात्यायनी हर प्रकार का चैलेंजिंग किरदार निभाना चाहती है। अभिनेत्री दिव्या भारती इनके दिल के करीब है। लव स्टोरी और वूमेन ओरिएंटेड फ़िल्म इन्हें पसंद है और भविष्य में वह महिला प्रधान फ़िल्म में मुख्य भूमिका करने के लिए उत्साहित है। विगत पंद्रह वर्षों से वह फ़िल्म इंडस्ट्री में काम कर रही है साथ ही उनका कहना है कि यदि आप आपने काम को पूरे ध्यान और लगन से करें तो सफलता अवश्य मिलेगी।

Not all heroes wear capes- in fact, they can even be a law enforcement official. This gentleman in question is immigration officer, Major Mohammed Ahmed Matar, who made it his mission to help a distraught Indian Expat’s family in the UAE even after his duty hours.

The Indian family had faced an emergency when the expat, his wife and child were travelling to India to visit the wife’s grandmother, who was in critical condition.

“We were rushing to the airport,” the expat stated. “All was going smooth during our check-in at Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) airport. But when we proceeded to the Immigration counter, we never expected the scenario that came in front of us.” The immigration officer at the desk explained the expat that his child’s visa had already expired, however, the expat believed that it was valid until the next year. This mishap resulted in the immigration team advising the distressed family to visit the Dubai office to sort the issue, and that they could not board the flight until the issue was resolved. However, the family did not believe that they could travel to Dubai and get back in time to RAK to board their flight.

As a last resort, the family travelled to Dubai to sort the issue. “When we reached the Al Tawar Office, the receptionist asked us to visit the main branch instead to solve the issue. Being absolutely exhausted from the day’s events, I requested her to help us in some way.” The family were then directed to a gentleman who was finishing his duties.

It was then that the patriarch explained his issue to Major Ahmed Matar, who actively listened to the man’s woes. “He went back to his office and came back out after a few hours, telling me that it would be solved, and that I could fly back home in the next 24 hours”, the expat stated. The family was relieved, but money was also an issue, given that the family of 3 they were not able to get a refund for their last flight.

“Now the issue was the money to buy tickets for all three of us to travel. As I was leaving the office, Major Matar pulled out his wallet and gave me enough cash to travel back home,” the expat said. “He is a real hero whom we cannot forget. He went beyond his duty hours to help us and discuss the issue personally.”

This scenario displays yet another heroic deed by the UAE’s exemplary government officials, who are the unsung heroes of the nation. The UAE continues to help expats all over the country, with an approach that is characterised by kindness, respect, and tolerance.
