He is also a Hollywood Director, who has been efficiently running worldwide business based in the UAE for the past 22 years striving towards the success of his business along with the growth of the UAE and the Indian economy. He is someone who made a bond for setting aside 50% of his assets for his employees and implemented accurate payment, yearly increment, pension, and monthly profit share for them. He is continuing to provide full payment without laying off anyone even in this crucial period of COVID-19. Even after being the CEO of a business conglomerate of 53 companies spread around 16 countries and getting his name entered in the Forbes list, Sohan Roy is someone who has always avoided accompanying privileges, setting an example for entrepreneur’s as a model employer. The graphic designer who was working from India failed to get the true essence of the poem and unintentionally related it to the Nizamuddin issue which was going on at that point in time using the corresponding graphics and uploaded it on social media handles from India. Due to lack of time, the control of his social media accounts has been entitled to the media team operating in India itself. Since the graphical representation was a result of misinterpretation, Roy immediately took action and removed the post from all social media handles. Later, he also apologized, taking the entire moral responsibility of the issue through his Facebook post.

 

We truly hope that the controversy which has resurfaced again after two weeks of deleting the post in Malayalam exclusively meant of Malayalees,  with a clear intention of crucifying and defaming a selfless person on social media, without comprehending the actual fact of nothing wrong with lines, but with graphics, does not create a forever black mark on Malayalees and Indians in general.

Chennai: The grand event of Indywood Fashion Premiere League Season 3 concluded successfully at Taj Connemara in Chennai on Feb 14 th 2020. The event was organised along with the official launch of Indywood Billionaires Club – Chennai chapter where top enterprising business icons from the state of Tamil Nadu were honored. Recognizing the relevance of age old tradition of weaving and the major role it has played in shaping the fashion world since ages, IFPL season 3 was themed “A walk for a Cause” which unveiled a greater cause of promoting the Indian weaver’s community.

IFPL season 3 showcased handpicked designs by Mrs. Abhini Sohan, Executive Director – IFPL, who is known for her impeccable design sense. Travelling around the world and imbibing fashion from varied cultures and nations, her choice of clothes showcased in the event was subject to great appreciation. As a designer, Abhini Sohan’s passion in designing started budding at a very tender age. Her inspiration was her mother and cousin who is a renowned fashion designer in South India. Her initially designed pieces mostly included an exquisite collection of sarees. Her keenness in travelling with hardcore passion for fashion made her travel the world, watch, live and feel varied cultures. Handpicking of IFPL designer wears were also done through a similar process of travelling each place all by herself and choosing one from a wide range of collections. Particular attention was given to choosing designs closely knitted to the cultural aesthetics of that particular place. Her immaculate design sense coupled with the elegance of models brought the appearance of the costumes to a whole new level. While Abhini personally sees to the selection of dresses, her team of professionals is responsible to conduct the show in a top-notch manner. “According to me, fashion is something that must blend in and align with an individual’s body and shouldn’t look like an extra fitting. And, while wearing an outfit, it should have the power to enhance the appearance of the person and vice-versa”, she quoted.

Travelling to different villages and experiencing the struggle weaver communities are going through, Abhini decided to choose the theme to uphold the relevance of weaving in Indian culture. She believes that, if this generation of weavers aren’t taken care of, the next generation will be reluctant to step into that line of skill and it will eventually lead to the end of the weaving community.

      

The show was choreographed by ace fashion choreographer Mr. Dalu Krishandas, who has brought prominent changes to the South Indian fashion industry. Miss Super Globe World 2019, Akshara Reddy and Indian model and actress Vidya Pradeep, walked the ramp as celebrity Show stoppers. This year, IFPL will be organised at 5 different locations including Delhi, Kolkata and Ahmedabad focusing on the different film hubs of Indian film industry. IFPL aims to choose film industry as a medium to propagate the word of Indian fashion industry around the world. Watching Indywood, a media and film based company founded by Abhini’s husband, Mr. Sohan Roy, she realized movies’ potential to enhance a wide range of fields like music, fashion, technology etc., and thus the initial concept of IFPL struck Abhini.

The film narrates the story of a father who becomes a brutal life snatcher to give justice to his rape victim daughter when law and order fails to do so. The movie stars Adam Saini, Khushboo Purohit, Chetan Pandit, Daya Shankar Pandey and Manish Vatssalya in pivotal roles.

Debutant Adam Saini, who has served with the Scottish police, plays the protagonist. He has been bestowed with 7 international awards for his performance in Scotland. The film has been produced by Zaina Ibourek (British-Moroccan) and Manish Vatssalya under the banner of Mars UK Films Ltd and Vatssalya Films.

Josef – Born in Grace

‘Josef – Born in Grace’ has found its place in the 92nd Oscar contention list, after a grand reception at IFFI – Film Bazaar this year. This is UA Kathachitra’s first film. The movie stars Victor Banerjee (National Award winner & BAFTA nominee), Subrat Dutta (Best Actor – Cairo Film Festival), and Sudarshan Juyal in pivotal roles. The movie is directed by National Award Winner Susant Misra (Indradhanura Chhai, Biswaprakash, & Dharini) whose movies have been screened in some of the most prestigious festivals across the world, including Cannes (Un Certain Regard), Cairo, Rotterdam, Sochi (Grand Prix Winner), Moscow, and Montreal. He is joined by National Award Winner Sudheer Palsane (Ko: Yad – The Silent Way, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, Katyar Kaljat Ghusali) for cinematography, and National Award Winner Sukant Panigrahy (Dev D, Ek Tha Tiger, Drishyam) for art direction. UA Kathachitra also aims to promote fresh talent. In this film that includes Hitesh Bisht, Anamika Goswani, and Deepica Elizabeth Lakra in the cast. Vaidehi Krishnan on her debut as the Costume Designer does full justice to the theme and period of the film.

‘Josef – Born in Grace’ is an adaptation of a short story, ‘Joseph’, written by Umakanta Mahapatra and is set in the Himalayas between 1960 and 1980 in India. Father O’Hara (Victor Banerjee), a missionary doctor with the help of his caretaker Maularam (Sudarshan Juyal), raises an orphan baby Josef (Hitesh Bisht). While still a young boy, Joseph is sent to Dehradun for his studies and vocational training. Josef (Subrat Dutta) returns back with a reputation as a great cook as well as his love for alcohol.

The film explores in its unfolding of time, the different paths that Father O’Hara, Josef, and Maularam take in their respective journeys for spiritual fulfilment through memories, duty, and search as well as their interaction with friends and acquaintances. Through static mise-en-scene, the narrative of the film reflects the all-encompassing nature of time, preempting and repeating itself in allegorical hues.

Indywood Talent Hunt Dubai Chapter Kick Starts

Dubai: UAE’s biggest youth festival, organized by Aries Group of Companies in association with Biz Events was inaugurated today. This two-day event was inaugurated by Mr. Sohan Roy, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Aries Group of Companies at Dubai Amity School.
This inauguration kick started the grand finale of Indywood Talent Hunt 2019.  The winners in music, dance, photography, fine arts, filmmaking, designing, quiz, technical, dramatics and creative media sections will compete during this two-day event.
Students from more than 400 music and arts schools in the UAE competed in the preliminary rounds and the winners were qualified to the semi-final rounds. Indywood Talent Hunt is the largest ever public verdict based youth festival in the history of the UAE’s festivities, which is about one million people. The finalists were selected based on public participation, online voting, YouTube’s acceptance of contestant videos, and the scores provided by expert jurors. The artist and talent are selected from the contestants who have scored the most individual points. Indywood Talent Hunt offers talented contestants the opportunity to continue to showcase their talents at many international platforms, including cinema.
